The Scottish Psychedelic Research Group was established in 2021 at the University of Edinburgh, within the School of Health in Social Science. We create a network for people from a range of professional and academic backgrounds. Our main aim is to encourage community development and engagement around psychedelic, integration and community development. Some of our aims as a group are to conduct a group clinical trial into psychedelic-assisted therapy, to research the historical and contemporary use of psychedelic plants in Scotland, and to understand our native species – the Liberty Cap and Amanita Muscaria – in more depth. The group runs a range of events around broader themes in Psychedelic Research which seek to bring a diverse community together.
